Walter Payton was one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. He played for 11 seasons
for the Chicago Bears. Walter passed away from a rare liver disease. He was nicknamed Sweetness
in the NFL. Walter was greatly known for his community involvement in the Chicago area and today
the Walter Payton Man of the Year award is one of the NFL's highest awards. The award is given to
that player for excellence on the field and strong charitable involvement.
