2017 Sky's the Limit #21 - Travel Air Model R Mystery Ship - Ornament
The propeller spin on this absolutely fabulous looking red and black airplane
which is the 21st in the series. The Type R Mystery Ships was a series of low
wing racing aircraft built by the Travel Air Company in the late 1920s and early
1930s. They were called mystery ships because the first three in the series were
built entirely in secrecy. Two Travel Air designers wanted to prove that an
aircraft built entirely from scratch and designed for racing could out fly the
military.
